Foundation of the Charter

Members of Swiss Food Research are passionately committed to innovative projects in line with the "One Planetary Health" concept.

The "Charter for the Development of a Holistic and Sustainable Future-oriented Agro-Food System" is an agreement supported by all members of Swiss Food Research and adopted by the General Assembly on October 6, 2020.

As a statement of intent, it serves as an orientation for the joint efforts to bring about a transformation of the food system

Guiding principle

Members of Swiss Food Research are passionately committed to innovative projects in line with the "One Planetary Health" concept. The concept of "One Planetary Health" is based on the fact that human health is closely linked to wellbeing of animals and the environmental condition and requires holistic considerations.

In accordance with this guiding principle, Swiss Food Research develops and implements a culture of innovation based on the following principles:

  • Passion for finding solutions for a holistic and sustainable future-oriented nutrition system
  • Holistic approach as the basis for our actions
  • Sharing of state-of-the-art know-how in the network
  • Neutrality as the basis for common action
  • Confidentiality in mutual respect of copyrights, individual ideas and intellectual property

Central fields of action of Swiss Food Research

Guided by the 17 goals for sustainable development as defined by the UN, Swiss Food Research focusses its activities on:

  • Matchmaking of interdisciplinary competencies to enable innovative projects to add value through a holistic approach
  • Support, including coaching of start-ups, scale-ups and SMEs from the idea to the marketing to the consumer
  • Promotion of national and international research and industry connections for the realization of innovation projects -
  • Involving students and experts in practical project work
  • Financing of sustainable ideas with own funds and mediation of further financing possibilities
